Description:
Our client is looking for a Junior Security Consultant that delivers professional security services to clients within the organization. A Junior Security Consultant performs tasks in accordance with various host, application, and network security assessments. The Junior Security Consultant will utilize technical expertise and polite professional etiquette while performing the following duties:
- Understand and be able to discuss vulnerability, threat, and risk.
- Perform assessment tasks, with oversight, on target systems to determine potential problems or security threats.
- Gather assessment data for reporting assessment findings.
- Have a general understanding of hacking tools and techniques.
- Be informed as to the latest cyber-security issues.
- Identify vulnerable systems and understand remediation steps.
- Understand defenses for software and hardware.
- Perform email; phone; and in-person tasks, with oversight related to social engineering campaigns.
- Maintain a basic awareness of the latest news and threats in the security industry.
Skills & Knowledge Requirements:
Must have basic skills/knowledge in some of the following:
- Network, system, and application administration skills.
- Common programming languages including C, C++, C#, Java, SQL, or PHP.
- Windows, UNIX, and Linux operating systems.
- Encryption technologies and ethical hacking.
- Key legislations such as the Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA), The Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Act of 2002, Payment Card Industry (PCI), The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), The Gramm-Leach Bliley Act (GLBA) and compliance assessments.
- The Internet protocol suite which is the computer networking model and set of communications protocols used on the Internet including TCP and IP.
- Ability to work as part of a team but also independently and on own initiative.
- Flexible approach to dynamic tasks.
- Analytical ability to break down problems into constituent parts.
- Solid communication skills.
- A basic grasp of technical jargon into business familiar language.
- Follow directions and meet deadlines.
