We are looking for a Skilled Signage Design Engineer to produce fabrication-ready shop drawings for architectural and electrical signage projects. This role combines structural drafting and electrical layout design to ensure that fabricators, installers, and inspectors have clear and accurate documentation.
You will transform client-approved mockups into detailed blueprint packages that comply with UL/NEC standards and local permitting requirements.
This is a long-term, remote opportunity with a fixed schedule aligned with US Central Time.
Responsibilities
Develop comprehensive shop drawing packages: plan, elevation, section, and detail views.
Convert client mockups into fabrication-ready drawings.
Provide structural details: material callouts, steel/aluminum specs, welding details, wind load and footing requirements for freestanding signs and pylons.
Produce electrical layouts: LED placement, wiring runs, power supply distribution, breaker/conduit specifications, and load calculations.
Prepare exploded diagrams, material schedules, mounting/footing details, and UL notes.
Coordinate with engineers for stamped drawings when required.
Support project managers and fabrication teams with technical clarifications.
Requirements
Proven experience as a Signage Designer, Draftsman, or Design Engineer in the signage industry.
Proficiency in AutoCAD (SolidWorks, CorelCAD, or similar software a plus).
Knowledge of signage materials (steel, aluminum, ACM, acrylic, vinyl, LEDs, fasteners).
Understanding of fabrication and installation for channel letters, pylons, and architectural signage.
Familiarity with UL standards, NEC codes, and local permitting requirements for electrical signage.
Ability to produce blueprint packages, exploded views, wiring diagrams, and load calculations.
Strong attention to detail, reliability, and ability to meet deadlines.
Good communication skills for remote collaboration.
Compensation & Schedule
Rate: $10 USD/hour
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM CST/CDT (Central US Time)
