I’m looking for a Podcast Editor to join my team!
This role is for someone who is detail-oriented, takes feedback well, and cares about flow and quality. The podcast supports caregivers and blends heart, authenticity, and professionalism—so your work helps the message shine!
WHO I AM:
Hi! I’m Kama — a Coach, Nurse, Podcast Host, and Founder of Synergy Rising LLC and the Dancing With Dementia Podcast. I’ve spent over 20 years in healthcare, and the last 8.5 years caregiving for my mom with early-onset Alzheimer's. My work now centers around empowering young and atypical caregivers through coaching, holistic tools, and real talk.
RESPONSIBILITIES::
1) Edit podcast audio to shorten interviews while maintaining natural flow (sometimes interviews are 2 hours, and could become 2 episodes, or be trimmed to one 60-minute podcast episode).
2) Handle audio leveling, background noise reduction, and clarity improvements without cutting off words (my voice is raspy, so this is very important).
3) Create short clips (audio + video) for social media marketing and email promotion.
4) Export final files in correct formats and upload on schedule.
5) (EXTRA BONUS) Assist with podcast guest booking and content promotion.
***This would begin with a trial episode this week, and then going through past episodes to create marketing content with the TEAM! This is COLLABORATION***
REQUIREMENTS:
1) Proven experience with podcast/audio editing. Episodes are mostly recorded in Zoom; Intro's/Outro's in Descript
2) Familiarity with tools like Audacity, Adobe Audition, Descript, or similar.
3) Ability to follow branding and style guidelines.
4) Strong communication skills and willingness to take feedback well.
5) Reliable internet connection and ability to meet deadlines.
6) Willingness to seek IT support when needed! Must seek help over troubleshooting/doubling time spent.
NICE-TO-HAVES:
1) Experience with video editing for reels/shorts.
2) Experience bringing a Podcast to YouTube (including familiarity with rules/etc)
3) Experience with adding CTA’s/Advertisements to past episodes when certain things are being promoted.
4) Background in podcast marketing, booking guests, and/or repurposing content.
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS (Read Carefully!):
*To make sure you can follow directions, please answer ALL of these questions in your application.*
1) How do you approach audio leveling and noise reduction for voices that are raspy or easily clipped by AI tools, so words don’t get cut off? AI tools do not work with my voice- words and phrases get cut off!
2) If I give you feedback on an edit that you worked hard on, how do you handle it?
3) If you are unsure as to whether to cut a part of the interview, what steps do you take before finalizing episode?
4) Share one podcast episode you’ve edited (link preferred) and tell me what your specific editing contributions were.
5) What tools do you use for editing and why?
6) What is your typical workflow with podcast hosts/guests/VA team fro start to finish? We use G-Suite for file sharing.
7) Have you ever created short social media clips from long-form audio/video? If yes, please share examples.
8) Please listen to the Dancing With Dementia Trailer and let me know why you feel passionate about joining the team.
9) (Optional Bonus) Do you have experience booking podcast guests or marketing podcast episodes? Tell me about this!
When applying, please include the word DANCEFLOOR in the subject line so I know you read this entire post.
If you think you might be the perfect fit for the team, I look forward to hearing from you! New to this world? Why do you think you are a good candidate?
Abundant Gratitude~
Kama
