Job Description

Role context, responsibilities, and expectations.

At Contemporary Tiny Homes, we design, sell, and build high-quality, custom Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) that help people live more intentionally, affordably, and sustainably. We're on a mission to make beautifully crafted, space-efficient homes accessible to homeowners across Connecticut—and we're looking for a seasoned professional to lead the way.

As a Senior Residential Construction Project Manager & Estimator, you’ll play a pivotal role in overseeing and optimizing our construction operations from permitting to completion. This is a senior leadership position requiring extensive hands-on construction experience, strategic thinking, expert-level organization and project management skills, and outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

YOUR ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead Construction Project Execution

  • Coordinate all phases of the construction process—scheduling subcontractors, managing deliveries of construction materials, engaging inspectors and surveyors, and ensuring quality at every stage.
  • Proactively identify and remove roadblocks to maintain on-time, on-budget project delivery.

Manage & Own Building Permit Submissions

  • Take full responsibility for building permit applications, managing submissions, follow-ups, and communications with local authorities to avoid delays.

Lead Procurement & Subcontractor Relations

  • Source and negotiate contracts with subcontractors and vendors to ensure competitive pricing and quality workmanship.
  • Ensure all subcontractors are licensed, insured, and have executed required agreements.

Lead Job Estimation & Proposal Generation

  • Engage with our senior architect and our sales team to estimate job costs and manage the creation of customer proposals, balancing price competitiveness and company profitability.

Own & Optimize Project Management Software

  • Take full ownership of our project management software (e.g., Asana)—creating workflows, automation, project templates, timelines, Gantt charts, and task assignments that drive transparency and accountability.
  • Continuously optimize digital workflows to support scalable operations.
  • Hold all parties accountable to defined Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), workflows, and timelines.

Financial & Contract Oversight

  • Ensure customers and subcontractors have signed the appropriate agreements and authorizations.
  • Support financial tasks including invoicing, collecting receipts, and reconciling accounts payable and receivable.

Cross-functional Leadership

  • Collaborate closely with sales, marketing, customer engagement, and leadership to ensure smooth handoffs and a seamless customer experience.
  • Lead internal coordination meetings and act as the operational point of contact for assigned builds.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Extensive U.S. Residential Construction Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in residential construction, part of it for projects within the United States, ideally across multiple construction firms.
  • In-depth knowledge of American residential building methods, codes, and best practices.

Project & People Leadership

  • Strong project leadership skills, with experience leading cross-functional teams.
  • People management experience is highly preferred.

Permitting & Procurement Expertise

  • Demonstrated experience managing building permit applications and interacting with municipalities.
  • Proven ability to negotiate contracts with subcontractors and vendors.

Process-Oriented & Tech-Savvy

  • Expert-level proficiency in project management tools, especially Asana (or similar platforms).
  • Ability to build, manage, and optimize task flows, templates, and dependencies.

Exceptional Communication Skills

  • Clear, structured, and transparent verbal and written communication.
  • Professional and confident when working with customers, subcontractors, and internal teams.

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, ideally in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • PMP certification or similar is a big plus.

WHAT WE OFFER

💼 Competitive Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary based on experience and performance.
  • Paid time off (vacation) and profit-sharing opportunities.

🚀 Leadership Role in a Growing Company

  • Be a key player in scaling our operations and shaping our construction strategy.
  • Opportunity to lead, innovate, and leave your mark on a mission-driven company.

🏡 Meaningful Work

  • Help build Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) that make a real difference in people's lives.
  • Work in a culture that values integrity, transparency, and excellence.
